In last several decades vegetation indices (VI) were used in vegetation damage assessment, land cover land use classification, analysis of vegetation condition etc. Most of the studies concentrate their attention only in a few vegetation indices as normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), simple ration (SR), soil adjusted vegetation index (SAVI) but there are a lot of other useful and beneficial indices which is not in use. The aim of this project was to create a software application in eCognition software, which able to calculate 8 mostly used vegetation indices and give possibility for user to compare them among each other. One of the other worthiness of this application is ability to process images from 5 satellite sensors (IKONOS-2, Landsat-8, Quickbird, Sentinel-2, SPOT-5). A pixel-based and an object-based image analysis methods are implemented simultaneously. The object-based classification method is comparatively new and has significant improvement over pixel-based approach.
